Income is the unit’s job. Do not replace it with a damage trait.
Trait effects and keep-or-reroll decisions
Anime Expeditions Traits Guide
Unbound is the strongest raw carry trait, but it is not the correct answer for every unit. Ramen Guy wants Investor, Burn and Bleed units can gain more from Draconic, Reaper can use Forsaken, and support or control units often prefer Primordial, Bolt, or Optics.
Use on Shadow, 8th Sword, Puppet, or another proven account carry.
The +50% DoT effect can beat a general roll when status damage is central.
Damage, SPA, and Range improve the full attack or aura cycle.
| Trait | Tier | Exact effect | Roll chance | Best roles | Recommended units | Keep / Reroll | Avoid on |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| S+ | +350% Damage, -5% SPA, +10% Range | 0.1%Pity: 1,500 | DPS, Summoner | Shadow, 8th Sword, Puppet, Cursed Student, Toy Maker | keepKeep on a proven low-placement carry that converts the massive personal damage bonus into the team’s main clear. | Farm units and temporary Story units; the roll is too rare to spend on a slot you plan to replace. | |
| S | +35% Damage, -15% SPA, +20% Range | 0.2%Pity: 750 | DPS, Support, Crowd Control, Summoner | Salmon Sorcerer, String Demon, Forbidden Teacher, The Hero, Puppet | keepKeep when attack speed and range improve how often a support, control, or follow-up kit affects the lane. | Pure economy units; the combat stats do not improve Yen production. | |
| S | +35% Critical Damage, +35% Critical Chance, +10% Range | 0.3%Pity: 500 | DPS, Support | Reaper, Cursed Student, String Demon | keepKeep on a crit-scaling unit or a kit whose follow-up attacks benefit from frequent critical hits. | Units with no crit interaction when Primordial or Unbound would improve the whole attack cycle more reliably. | |
| S | +20% Damage, +50% DoT Damage, -10% Unit Cost | 0.5%Pity: 300 | DPS, DoT | Flame Emperor, Hollow, Cursed Student, Crimson | keepKeep when Burn, Bleed, or another damage-over-time effect is a large share of the unit’s real output. | Pure supports and farm units that do not apply DoT. | |
| A | +25% Income | 2% | Farm | Ramen Guy, Stone Alchemist | keepKeep on Ramen Guy. Income is the entire reason the unit is in the team, so Investor directly improves the job. | Damage, support, or crowd-control units; income does not replace the combat stat they need. | |
| A | -15% SPA | 4% | DPS, Support, Crowd Control | Salmon Sorcerer, String Demon, Ice Queen, Scissor | keepKeep when faster attacks mean more Slow, Stagger, Cocoon, freeze, or single-target ramp triggers. | A unit whose main value comes from one manual ability with little connection to regular attack speed. | |
| A | +20% Critical Chance, +10% Critical Damage | 4% | DPS | Reaper, Scissor | keepKeep as a practical crit build while saving for Forsaken. | Farm and pure support units. | |
| A | +25% Range | 3% | Support, Crowd Control | Forbidden Teacher, The Hero, Salmon Sorcerer, Water Princess | keepKeep when the aura, shield, Slow, or Stagger needs to cover more of the path or more allied units. | A carry whose current problem is damage rather than coverage. | |
| B | +15% Damage | 6% | DPS, DoT, Summoner | Any early carry | situationalHold on a useful early carry until a multi-stat S or A-tier roll becomes affordable. | Farm units and endgame carries once you have enough Trait Crystals for a targeted upgrade. | |
| B | -10% SPA | 7% | DPS, Support, Crowd Control | Ice Mage, Scissor, early control units | situationalHold when faster attacks directly fix an early-wave leak. | A temporary Rare unit that will leave the team soon. | |
| B | +10% Range | 7% | Support, Crowd Control | Forbidden Teacher, The Hero, Ice Mage | situationalHold if the unit is missing the lane or allies it is supposed to cover. | A farm unit or a carry already covering the full relevant path. | |
| B | +10% Damage | 7% | DPS, DoT, Summoner | Any early DPS | situationalUse as a low-cost stopping point on a current Story carry. | Long-term Mythic or Secret carries once stronger multi-stat traits are within reach. | |
| B | +10% Critical Chance, +5% Critical Damage | 6% | DPS | Reaper, early boss DPS | situationalHold only when the unit already gains value from critical hits. | Units without a crit plan. | |
| C | +50% EXP Gain | 9% | DPS, Support | A unit being leveled temporarily | rerollUse briefly if account progression is blocked by unit level and the unit is not ready for a final combat trait. | Any maxed or endgame unit; the effect stops helping combat once leveling is finished. | |
| C | +5% Damage | 14.64% | DPS, DoT, Summoner | Starter DPS | rerollOnly as a first-session placeholder. | Any unit receiving serious investment. | |
| C | -5% SPA | 14.63% | DPS, Support, Crowd Control | Starter control unit | rerollOnly as a first-session placeholder. | Any unit receiving serious investment. | |
| C | +5% Range | 14.63% | Support, Crowd Control | Starter support unit | rerollOnly when it fixes a specific placement gap before the next reroll. | Any unit receiving serious investment. |
Clear the role or decision filter and try a shorter unit name.
Primordial vs Forsaken
Choose the attack cycle or the crit package
| Trait | Choose it when | Current examples |
|---|---|---|
| Primordial | SPA and Range improve support, control, aura, or repeat attacks. | Salmon Sorcerer, String Demon, Forbidden Teacher, The Hero |
| Forsaken | The kit scales through critical hits or crit-friendly follow-ups. | Reaper, Cursed Student, String Demon |
Trait Crystal rule
Roll after the unit earns the slot
- 1
Use the unit in Story and one repeat mode.
- 2
Name the job: carry, farm, support, control, DoT, or summon.
- 3
Set a stopping trait before Auto Reroll begins.
- 4
Keep enough crystals for the next proven unit instead of emptying the account.
Trait decision order
Use the unit’s job as the first filter
A trait is not valuable in isolation. The same roll can be a strong carry result, a wasted farm result, or a temporary bridge depending on what the unit must do in the current account.
| Unit job | Start with | Keep when | Reroll or hold when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carry damage | Compare Unbound, Forsaken, or a role-compatible damage package. | The unit already owns a repeatable placement in the mode you play. | The unit is temporary, low-placement, or the trait cannot be tested on the intended route. |
| Farm income | Investor on the unit whose purpose is Yen generation. | The income loop shortens a repeated summon or upgrade bottleneck. | A damage trait makes the unit look stronger but does not improve the farm job. |
| Support / control | Primordial, Bolt, Optics, or the effect family that improves the team cycle. | Range, SPA, or damage changes the control/aura uptime in the same stage. | The roll improves a stat the support never uses or the unit cannot maintain its trigger. |
| DoT / status | Draconic when Burn or Bleed is the actual source of the unit’s value. | Status damage remains the repeated win condition, not a one-off boss interaction. | The unit is being used for direct hits, farming, or a different route role. |
Before Auto Reroll
Write the stopping rule first
- 1
Name the unit and its current job.
- 2
Choose one acceptable trait family, not every rare label.
- 3
Decide whether the target is a keep, a bridge, or a reroll.
- 4
Reserve crystals for the next unit that can actually replace this slot.
When the roll looks good but plays badly
Check the handoff before spending again
Verify the unit’s mode, target type, and trigger condition before blaming the trait.
Keep the same stage and compare the actual bottleneck: placement, range, SPA, or target access.
Return to the income job and compare Investor with the account’s real currency loop.
Hold rare crystals until evolution changes the kit and the long-term trait target is visible.
Reroll recovery
Do not let one bad roll erase the baseline
Trait spending is easier to review when the account keeps one known setup. Change one resource decision, then repeat the same stage before starting another roll session.
| What changed | Keep stable | Next safe action |
|---|---|---|
| Accepted a bridge trait | Unit, stage, and role | Use the bridge until a proven replacement earns the slot. |
| Rerolled past a useful result | Original target and stopping rule | Stop the session and compare the live unit panel before rolling again. |
| Trait works in one mode only | Mode where the job was confirmed | Mark it situational instead of forcing a universal ranking. |
| Account is low on crystals | Long-term carry, farm, or support core | Save the reserve and improve a proven equipment or evolution route first. |

Player questions
Traits FAQ
Use the current game panel before spending rare resources on a value that can change.
What is the best trait for Ramen Guy?
Investor is the best fit because it adds 25% Income and directly improves Ramen Guy’s farm role. A damage trait wastes the reason the unit is in the team.
Which units should use Unbound?
Use Unbound on proven low-placement carries such as Shadow, 8th Sword, Puppet, Cursed Student, or another unit that supplies a large share of the team’s total damage.
What is the difference between Primordial and Forsaken?
Primordial improves damage, attack speed, and range together, so it fits supports, control units, and general carries. Forsaken is a crit package and is stronger when critical hits or follow-up attacks are central to the kit.
When should I spend Trait Crystals?
Spend after the unit has a long-term team job and the current roll is the real blocker. Save crystals on Rare, filler Epic, and temporary Story units.
Can traits be locked while rerolling?
A reroll replaces the current trait. Use the in-game Auto Reroll filters to stop on selected outcomes, and check the live interface before starting a large roll session.
