Cross-job decision tool

Find one Pal that can cover two base jobs

Decision rule

Use shared coverage to reduce switching, not to promise throughput

  1. 1

Name both lanes. Choose the two jobs that are competing for workers in the same base or the same return route.

  2. 2

Start with the shortest shared shortlist. A focused Pal can cover both lanes, but a specialist may still be better when the jobs run continuously.

  3. 3

Run one full cycle. Inputs, paths, output storage, food, rest, power, facilities, passives, and settings can outweigh a single Work Suitability level.

Staffing decision layer

Shared coverage is a layout decision, not a throughput promise

A Pal that covers two jobs is useful when the lanes take turns or the base has a temporary gap. It is not automatically better than two specialists when both jobs run continuously.

Use shared coverage

Choose a cross-job Pal when the two lanes compete for workers, one lane is intermittent, or you need a temporary bridge while the roster is incomplete. Start with the smallest shortlist and test one full cycle.

Good signal: one worker can cover both lanes without abandoning the measured priority.
Prefer a specialist

Keep a single-job specialist when a production lane runs continuously, its output is a hard gate, or switching would leave a full output point, missing input, or long travel path behind.

Good signal: the lane fails whenever the shared worker leaves it.
Read the first broken handoff

If the producer is active but the output is full, fix storage or hauling before changing the Pal. If the station has no input, inspect the upstream chain. Work Suitability only answers whether the worker can perform the job.

Good signal: one visible handoff explains the idle state.
Re-test after layout changes

Pathing, food, rest, power, facilities, passives, rank, and server settings can change the result. Keep the worker and task stable while testing one layout or staffing change.

Good signal: the same job pair passes two comparable cycles.

Base Staffing Coverage FAQ

Use the current game panel before spending rare resources on a value that can change.

What does the Palworld Base Staffing Coverage Finder answer?

It finds Pals with a verified Work Suitability level in both selected base jobs. It does not estimate throughput or declare a universal best Pal.

Should one Pal cover two base jobs?

Use shared coverage when task switching is acceptable or a base has a temporary staffing gap. A specialist can still be safer for a continuous priority lane.

Why is a high-level shared Pal still idle?

Inputs, paths, output storage, food, rest, power, facilities, passives, settings, and competing assignments can all block the actual cycle.

How is this different from Work Suitability?

Work Suitability answers one selected job. This page performs the extra two-job intersection so you can find a worker that covers both lanes.
